About Gravesham Girls & Ladies FC

Back in 1999, John Thrush was asked to put together a girls football team to represent Gravesham in the County Youth Games Tournament. John promptly sent out invitations to all the surrounding schools in the area and, with twenty girls responding, he picked his team, won the Tournament and was inundated with requests to carry on. That was how it all began...

Two teams began their first season using borrowed kit and now Gravesham Girls & Ladies FC have seven teams (including the ladies). The Club welcomes girls ages 8 to 16 and of course ladies to join their successful teams. It's the only all girls football club in the Gravesham area, the headquarters residing at The Pavilion, Northfleet Technology College in Colyer Road, which is where all the home games are held and also where the girls train.

The junior teams train on a Saturday morning from 10.00am to 12noon.
The senior team train on a Thursday evening from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

Gravesham Girls & Ladies is a Charter Standard Club which means it is officially recognised by the FA and all the coached are fully qualified in child protection courses, codes of conduct, first aid, etc. They are always encouraging more girls to join along with more coaches and referees. The Club is willing to pay for the courses required to become a coach or referee.

Over the years, many of the girls have progressed to Charlton Athletic and Gillingham Centres of Excellence. Some represent Kent Schools FA, which this year has reached the South East Schools Cup Final. As you can imagine, a number of honours including League Titles, Cup Winners and Fair Play Awards have been accumulated under Club's belt!
