Crayford 6 Gravesham 2
Team: Jodie Butcher, Annemarie Adams, Alex Garratt, Chloe Saxton, Tilly Fahey, Lizzie Loveday, Ellen Oaten, Nicole Witham, Lacey Deighton, Ami Sako and Elisha Duffield.
Gravesham girls had a disappointing game today and were not on top form. We started on high with our heads in the air and managed to get the first goal, by Lizzie Loveday battling her way through Crayfords defenders and potting it in the corner. We were on top. Unfortunately, we slipped up and let them get a goal back which shortly followed by another two in the first half.
The girls continued to battle throughout the second half, despite them being 2 down and got a brilliant goal by Ami Sako. Although this did get us working, we managed to let in a few more goals and this made our heads drop. Eventually everyone got tired and found it hard battling against a strong team. The end score was 6-2 to Crayford.
Everyone put it all the effort, even the couple that were ill or played out of position so well done Gravesham, let's put that game aside and look forward to our next.

Gravesham 4 Castle Colts 0
Team: Natalya Silva, Ellen Oaten, Annmarie Adams, Tilly Fahey, Chloe Saxton, Jodie Butcher, Lizzie Loveday, Lacey Deighton, Rebecca Button, Ami Sako, Lorri Lucey and Elisha Duffield.
Despite the weather being horrible today, Gravesham Girls started the game with there heads held high. Castle Colts gave us a hard battle but with Natalya and Ellen on top form they didn't manage to get one past us. We kept fighting and eventually Lorri smashed one into the back of there net. We we're 1-0 up. The girls took this to our advantage and carried on pressuring them and it worked. Lizzie worked her magic and pushed us up to 2-0.
The second half followed a similar pattern with us trying our very hardest and getting praised for it with more goals. Shortly into it, Lizzie took a brilliant corner and Jodie got her foot on it tapping it towards the goal then Ami tapped it in to finish it. 3-0. With all the girls over the moon with excitement we kept up our great work, with the ball 90% in Castles half. I was the next to score, slipping it into the left corner in the last couple of minutes left. The game ended on 4-0 to Gravesham Girls.
All in all, well done to all the girls for a great great with a great score.

Barming 6 Gravesham 2
Team: Ellen Oaten, Annmarie Adams, Natalya Silva, Alex Garratt, Tilly Fahey, Jodie Butcher, Nicole Witham, Chloe Saxton, Lacey Deighton, Rebecca Button, Lori Lucey, Lizzie Loveday, Ami Sako and Elisha Duffield.
Gravesham started with there heads down and let Barming get a couple lucky goals within the first 15 minutes but without giving up, the girls fought as hard as they could and eventually got back a goal from myself. Although everyone continued to try there hardest, Barming unfortunately got a couple more goals. The first half ended on 4-1.
The second half carried on in a similar form, with Barming staying on top but Gravesham still fighting all they could. We did manage to pull back a cracking goal from Lizzie but this wasn't enough, we let Barming get the better of us and eventually ended 6-2 down.
All in all, we had a very bad game but we're all prepared to put this behind and get ready for our game against Castle Colts next week.

Gravesham 12 Orpington 2
Team: Jodie Butcher, Ellen Oaten, Annmarie Adams, Alex Garratt, Chloe Saxton, Nicole Witham, Lizzie Loveday, Lacey Deighton, Ami Sako, Lorri Lucey, Rebecca Button, Tilly Fahey and Elisha Duffield.
Gravesham started the first half with there heads down and unfortunately Orpington got the first goal but within a matter of time Lizzie, Jodie and I all got ourselves goals and put Gravesham in the lead
by a landslide. All of the team carried on working hard and managing to make some successful passes. This lead us to a 6-1 lead.
With all the girls on a high we continued our goal fest throughout the second half with Lizzie using her natural skill to take on Orpington's defenders, Rebecca with her fantastic shot just under the bar and Nicole and Chloe's great work in the middle to set up the strikers. We came out with a smashing win, 12-2 with 6 goals from Lizzie, 3 goals from me (Lacey) and a goal each from Jodie, Rebecca and Lorri.
All in all this was a brilliant game for Gravesham, it gives us a great goal difference for the league and has knocked our confidence up to a whole new level. All the girls played amazing and worked really hard. WELL DONE!

Gravesham 5 Barming 4 (AET)
Team: Ellisha Duffield, Ellen Oaten, Natalya Silva, Alex Garrett, Tilly Fahey, Jodie Butcher, Nicole Witham, Annmarie Adams, Lacey Deighton, Rebecca Button, Chloe Saxton, Lizzie Loveday, Ami Sako, Lorri Lucey, Amy Toon.
First Half:
To start the game the girls let there heads drop a bit and unfortunately conceeded two early goals from Barming. Although this knocked the girls a bit they didn't give up just yet and just a few moments later Nicole done a fantastic run down the pitch and got the ball into the back of the oppositions net. The team using this as there kick up the butt, carried on working hard and Ami also ran her fastest up the pitch, taking on Barmings defenders and smacked one into the goal. We we're back.
Second Half:
Gravesham started the second half on a possitive, with Lizzie working her magic and scoring a brilliant goal from the side of the box. However, a few minutes later Barming scored and we're level with us again but we didn't stop. This meant we ended the game on a draw, 3-3, meaning we had to go to extra time.
Extra Time:
There was a lot of tention in the air as both teams we're eager to win the game. Still standing strong and working hard we got the ball up to Lorri and she wellied it straight into the net. We we're winning again. Unfortunately for us, we let our defence drop a little bit and they managed to slip through and score, again. This set a big atmosphere as both sets of parents we're screaming and the girls we're running out of breathe. However, with an amazing corner from Jodie, Ellen put her foot on it in mid air and scored a cracking goal, this also being in the last 10 seconds. WE WON.
All in all the girls all showed a great performance and we we're glad to have Amy back.
Also, Sam done a great job reffing a very difficult game.

Gravesham 2 Crayford Arrows 3
Team: Ellen Oaten, Jodie Butcher, Annemarie Adams, Alex Garrett, Chloe Saxton, Tilly Fahey, Nicole Witham, Lacey Deighton, Lizzie Loveday, Rebecca Button, Ami Sako and Elisha Duffield.
First Half:
The whole team started on a possitive straight from the minute the whistle was blown. Most action was in there half, with Lizzie and Ami working hard to battle against Crayfords defence. Lizzie managed to skip past them and hit the bar also with Nicole following on with a one on one with the keeper but still no goal. Rebecca worked the right side and smashed some crosses in but no one successfully got their foot around it. The first half ended on a high but still no goals from either team.
Second Half:
The second half began with Crayford whacking a goal into the back of our net. Although the girls heads had dropped a little, everyone continued to work hard and we got lucky with a fantastic cross by Lizzie straight into the box where i took it on and smashed it into the goal. We we're back. Jodie and Anne Marie held there ground at centre back whilst Alex and Tilly ran there hearts out at right and left back. Unluckily, they managed to get another goal, despite Elisha saving some brilliant shots. We didn't give up though, we struggled our way through there midfielders with Lizzie making a great run towards there box untill one of the defenders caught her foot. We was awarded a free kick. Ellen hit it straight into the top right corner of the goal. Still working our hardest we defended the best we could but one of Crayfords strikers sneaked it behind Jodie and was in on goal and unluckily for us, she scored. We didn't have much chance in getting it back as it was the last couple of minutes but we never gave up.
All the team worked fantastically today and the score was very unfortunate.

Castle Colts 0 Gravesham 0
Team: Ellen, Jodie, Alex, Annmarie, Tilly, Chloe, Nicole, Lacey (C), Lorrianna, Lizzie, Vicky, Ami, Rebecca and Elisha (G).
Our first game back since christmas was a hard working match. Both teams fought a hard battle and the game was end to end. With all of our defence holding strong at the back and playing the ball successfully out to our midfielders, we managed to attempt many shots on goal with Lizzie and Vicky giving Castle Colts defence a hard time. With Nicole and Chloe battling hard in midfield Castle Colts could see no way through hence going to half time still 0-0.
The girls came back onto the pitch with their heads held high, ready to put out another tough fight hoping to come out on top. Shortly into the second half Lizzie managed to work her magic and skip through there defence, only to hit the post... TWICE. On the other end of the pitch, Elisha managed to save a long shot from the oppositions number 7, along with Jodie and Ellen working hard to stop Castle breaking through, and succeeding. Jodie then managed to run through the middle, taking on all of Castle Colts midfielders (only to lose it in there box and have to run all the way back). Good effort Jodie.
The second half also saw many other good saves from our keeper, Elisha. Near misses from Ami and Lori and Lizzie and myself successfully hitting the post, AGAIN. Also Alex got a real surprise from stopping an on target ball with her nose.
All in all a great start back and really good effort from all of the team.
The game finished 0-0 and Jodie Butcher got our player of the match for excellent defending and ball skills.

Gravesham U15's vs Lordswood
Squad : Elllisha, Natalya(C), Annmarie, Alex, Chloe, Lacey, Jodie, Ellen, Ami, Lorianna, Tilly, Rebecca
This week saw us face old rivals Lordswood in the league.
We arrived to find that the goals had been left up on the Ladies pitch instead of our usual slopey one, so we had a chance to play on a level pitch, although it was slightly bigger.
Only 12 girls available today – Amy continues to need Physio as her injury is not healing properly, Lizzie also has a leg injury and Nicole thought it would be much more fun to sun herself in Fuerteventura!
Unfortunately we saw ourselves 1-0 down within the first five minutes – not a good start!
Everyone played really well this week and as a team were passing the ball well and looking for our players. Chloe and Alex both worked really hard this week, winning challenges and battling away. Lacey got badly winded but continued to play despite her obvious pain, Ellen came off in the second half due to an injury and smiley Alex filled her place.
Lorsdwood’s defence prevented our attempts to score and although we did not deserve to lose, they managed to get another one past us 10 minutes before the end.
Great game with end to end stuff and well done to the squad today who never gave up.

Long Lane vs Gravesham U15's
Squad : Ellisha, Natalya (C), Jodie, Alex, Annmarie, Tilly, Chloe, Nicole, Lorianna, Lacey, Ellen, Rebecca, Lizzie
We started today’s match knowing that we were up against a strong Long Lane side, who we knew would be hard to beat as they are currently top of the table.
Not long into the match we conceded our first goal, which appeared to go straight through the defence and give Ellisha no chance. We battled hard to come back and tried hard to close Long Lane down. The hard work eventually paid off when a lovely pass from Jodie was picked up by Lacey, who controlled the ball well and chipped it straight over the keeper. Half time saw us level and looking like we could hold our own.
The second half started well and saw Nicole scoring a lovely header from a corner – it was her first goal of the season and she celebrated by showing off her ‘Super Super Frank’ bright pink t-shirt! It was a well deserved goal as she has been battling hard in midfield consistently this season. Our lead was short lived again though, when we let our guard down not long after and naturally Long Lane took advantage, scoring the equaliser.
We continued to chip away with some excellent performances, especially from Jodie at the back and Lacey on the left wing, who managed to create loads of space and appeared unmarked for most of the game. Alex and Annmarie also showed strength throughout and Ellisha displayed some great goalkeeping skills. However, Long Lane managed to get another one past us to go 3-2 up. We hung on for what seemed like forever, doing our best to at least get a point out of this spirited match. As the match continued, a few injuries forced Gravesham substitutions and we were eventually unable to prevent Long Lane scoring a fourth.
Despite the disappointing score line, we showed that we can battle hard against Long Lane and look forward to the return fixture at home next week.
Well played girls, keep it up !

Gravesham U15's v Lordswood (League Cup)
Squad : Ellisha, Natalya(C), Jodie, Nicole, Lizzie, Lacey, Annmarie, Chloe,
Ami, Alex, Lorianna, Tilly, Vicky, Rebecca
Not the best of games this week, losing 0-5 to a newly strengthened
Lordswood side, who have recently acquired players from Academies.
A terrible start to the game saw Gravesham caught out twice within 5 minutes
to watch the ball go in the back of their net. The uphill first half was
more than a struggle and saw us going into half time 3-0 down.
The second half looked more promising as we had the advantage of going
downhill but despite battling hard could not fend off two more goals. Final
score 0-5.
Jodie was unstoppable in defence, with great vision and passing. Lacey did a
great job on the left wing and Nicole and Lizzie were on form in midfield.
Ellisha picked up the player of the match award for her awareness and
positioning in goal.
We look forward to welcoming back Amy in a couple of weeks, as we face the
second of our next two league matches against Long Lane.

Gravesham Girls Under 15s Match Report
Sunday 9 October 2011
Home to Faversham
1st Round of League Cup
Another warm autumn afternoon saw the girls at home to Faversham in the first round of the league cup in what should have been, on paper at least, quite an easy game. However, a very lacklustre first half performance, together with a missed penalty, saw the score still at 0-0 at half time, despite a couple of good long range shots from Lacey and Nicole.
After a “Sir Alex” talk from Chris at half time, the team started to play some football and to string some goods moves together with Lizzie finally opening the scoring with a well taken goal, slotted past the oncoming goalie. She quickly added a second a few minutes later to make the lead slightly more comfortable. With the girls’ confidence growing, they began to dominate all areas of the pitch, with the opposition posing little threat. Goals were added by Lacey, Lorianna and Vickie to make the final score 5-0 to the yellows.
Well done girls on a well deserved win.
Gravesham Girls Under 15s Match Report
Sunday 2 October 2011
Home to Castle Colts
The girls were at home to Castle Colts on a blistering Sunday afternoon with the temperature nudging the 30s (upper 80s in old money). The game was only a few minutes old when a nasty ankle injury to Amy saw her being taken away to hospital in an ambulance (we later learned that happily her ankle wasn’t broken, but she had sprained it very badly and will be out for a few weeks – best wishes for a speedy recovery Amy). As the girls are beginning to learn to play on the very sloped pitch at Stone Rec, the passing has become very slick and accurate and they were beginning to impose themselves on Castle Colts when, totally against the run of play, the opposition went and scored! Gravesham fought back well though and within a few minutes, Lacey had slotted the ball into the net to make it all level at half time.
In the second half, the girls were playing up hill and struggling in the heat (whilst the mums and dads were enjoying the shade under the conker trees). Never one to take her foot off the throttle, Lizzie burst through the Castle defence to make it 2-1 to the yellows.
But with the bounce of the ball causing all sorts of problems on the sloping pitch, it wasn’t long before Castle Colts took advantage to level the score. As time went on, the girls’ energy was sapped by the uphill struggle and the heat and Castle began to stamp their mark on the game and took the lead with a lucky long range lob over Elisha in goal – nothing she could have done about that! Towards the end of the game, Castle were awarded a penalty for a hand ball in the box which they converted to make the final score 4-2.
Hard luck girls and better luck in the snow next week.

GRAVESHAM GIRLS U15’S V ORPINGTON – SUN 18.09.11
GRAVESHAM 8
ORPINGTON 0
Squad : Ellisha, Natalya (C), Jodie, Chloe, Tilly, Nicole, Amy, Lizzie, Ami, Rebecca, Lorianna,
Annmarie
Scorers : Ami 2, Lorianna 2, Chloe, Lizzie, Amy, Rebecca
Today we played our first game at our new temporary ground, Stone Rec, against a team we have not met before. We didn’t know what to expect from the opposition but really didn’t need to worry with a comfortable win of 8-0 and never really looking likely to concede.
The pitch is on a slope and it seemed that the advantage would always go to the team attacking the downward side, which was us in the first half. Ami opened up the scoring early on and by half time we were 2-0 up, after Chloe scored a screamer from the edge of the box.
We started the second half on the uphill stretch knowing that we would have a bit of a battle to convert any chances from any distance. However, Rebecca and Annmarie worked really hard on the wings, Chloe had a great game and Tilly helped keep Orpington’s attack at bay. Amy and Nicole both picked up injuries and had to be subbed, although they both came back on after attention from ice packs! Lizzie, Lori and Ami were also strong and racked up 5 goals between them to help strengthen our lead. Natalya and Jodie made sure at the back that Orpington never really got any chances and Ellisha was able to have a quiet day. This is only Ellisha’s second game for us and although she wasn’t kept too busy, her positioning was good and she looked confident with her goal kicks.
All in all a great performance from us today. We played as a team, with some great passing and quality finishing! Well done girls!

GRAVESHAM GIRLS U15’s v LORDSWOOD (A) – SUN 11 SEP 2011
The U15’s played Lordswood away today and won 3-1 after a match full of effort and determination. We played well and contributed as a team, although we let in a silly goal towards the end of the game after holding the 3-0 win for the majority. Well done and well deserved to player of the match Rebecca who battled hard throughout and won most of her challenges! Our goal scorers today were Amy. who got one and the other two were from Lizzie, who scored our first goal after about 2 minutes on the pitch! Everyone worked hard and put in all their effort to win our first league match. Let’s hope we can keep it up and win some more! Well done girls.
